The Dark Knight Rises Movie Reviews

As this movie was the most awaited movie of the decade, I obviously wanted to watch it as soon as possible. My friend won some contest online and so, I got to watch it a few days earlier FOR FREE.

The movie is everything you want it to be. The story is very well told and there is enough of Nolan-kind twists. Tom Hardy has some powerful lines as Bane but the enhanced voice doesn't work at all. But, he still does his character justice and performs to his full potential. For the first time in the trilogy, Batman wasn't the strongest. This gave a chance to Christian Bale to show off his acting skills without the mask and he did a fine job. The veterans Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine went about their job as if it was just another day at the office. But, a major surprise was Joseph Gordon-Levitt who portrays an ordinary police officer and pulls of an unexpectedly awesome performance.

The special effects, sound and action were out of the world. Nolan spent a lot of money and he made it visible in the movie. The movie connects all the dots from the previous movies and provides a fitting end to the saga. Although, personally I liked The Dark Knight better. But, TDKR certainly came very close it.

Finally, I would like to thank Christopher Nolan for portraying Batman in a way no one ever thought was possible and for making one the best trilogy of all time.

Jurassic World Movie Reviews

Aside from Avengers: Age of Ultron, Jurassic World was my most anticipated movie of summer 2015. I love the first film and even the second film. I hated the third one, but this one looked a lot better than that movie. After seeing Jurassic World, I can definitely say that it is a very fun movie. It's script may not be the highlight, but the film is still much better than Jurassic Park III.

The plot of Jurassic World takes place 22 years after the events of Jurassic Park. After the incident of Isla Nublar (the island where the first Jurassic Park movie took place in), regarding the theme park, "Jurassic Park", a new dinosaur theme park, "Jurassic World", has been built, embodying John Hammond's original vision of "Jurassic Park". The theme park is run by operations manager, Claire Dearing, and owned by Simon Masrani. At one point, general interest in the park is decreasing, due to the dinosaur exhibits losing their "wow factor". Because of this, the scientists of the park create a new genetically modified dinosaur: Indominus Rex (I-rex for short), to attact more visitors. The I-rex is a hybrid not just out of carnivorous dinosaur DNA, but also of animal DNA (such as cuttlefish). However, before the new exhibit is about to open, the I-rex breaks out of his enclosure and starts rampaging a cross the island. Unfortunately for Claire, her two nephews, Zach and Grey, are visiting the park and are in the middle of one of the park's rides, "The Gyroshpere", when the I-rex attacks them. They survive the attack though, and are trying to escape from the island. Meanwhile, Claire and velociraptor trainer Owen Grady, are searching for the two boys to make sure they're safe. While this is going on, Owen and Claire, along with the rest of the "Jurassic World" staff, must stop the I-rex, before it terrorizes the park visitors.

Coming fresh off of last year's Guardians of the Galaxy, Chris Pratt does a great job as Owen Grady. He is very charismatic, funny, and is honestly Jurassic Park's version of Indiana Jones (which is ironic, because there are talks of him being Indiana Jones). Bryce Dallas Howard is also solid in her role, and is much better than what you'd expect, at first. I'll explain why when I get to the script. Ty Sampans and Nick Robinson are also really good as the children, Grey and Zack, and she solid chemistry. The supporting cast, ranging from Irrfan Khan to Omar Sy, are also solid enough for what they are given.

Visually, this movie is a massive improvement over Jurassic Park III, in term of CGI, which looks incredible, whether it be the dinosaurs or the environments. Sure a little bit of it looks meh at best, but for most part, the computer generated imagery works well. There are also a few attempts at practical effects and they also work (unlike the third Jurassic Park movie). Colin Trevorrow is also great at the direction, creating lots of tension and suspense to the incredible action sequences, which are also backed up by great set designs. I don't want to spoil the final fight scene for those who have yet to see the movie, but it is honestly my favorite action scene of the entire series so far, not just because it looks awesome, but it is just so creative, with what they did in that scene.

Like I said before, the screenplay defnetaly isn't the highest point of this film, but it's not a terrible script either. Firstly, whilst I do like the character of Owen, I was surprised about the character of Claire. She may seem like that same big person who says a lot of stuff, but her character takes different directions, making her a pretty badass female character. The I-rex makes a really great villain, with the ideas that the filmmakers used. Mainly its intelligence, specifically the tactics used for hunting (which I won't spoil, because you should go into the movie with as little knowledge that I give to you. I also love the idea of a velociraptor trainer and thought that was really cool. I also LOVE the final act of this movie (again, no spoile- you probably get it by this point).

This script does have some big flaws, though, such as most of the characterization. There are some very forced character moments for the supporting characters, mainly the two children in the film. Zack and Grey do have some good brother bonding moments, but they also have a good portion of backstory about their family that goes nowhere. I also found parts of the first act to be a little slow for my taste, but after that, the movie started to pick up and flow better. Also, whilst I found most of the humor of the film to be very funny, the tone was a tad inconsistent at times.

Overall, Jurassic World is an incredibly entertaining long-awaited sequel. It may not have best best script in the world, but I still had a lot of fun watching it. I don't think it's as good as Jurassic park, or even The Lost World, but it is a big improvement over Jurassic Park III. I recommend that you watch it.

I'm going to give Jurassic World a B+ (8.5/10).

Ant-Man Movie Reviews

Antman. When I first heard about the plans for this movie I laughed to myself and thought, "How can becoming smaller be cool?" Sure enough, Marvel has surpassed my expectations and turned something I thought would be lame and uninteresting into something hilarious and actually pretty cool. I'm not going to include any spoilers, but I will say the fighting style of Antman is much better than I thought it would be. I learned a lot about the story as well as the abilities he has.

Antman gets much more interesting when doing combat. The ability to shrink and grow at will is something Marvel has gotten very creative with.

The language in this film is good enough for my young children to watch. There are no F or GD bombs to ruin the mood and the moment with the family. I'd say I'd surely watch it again.

Hitman: Agent 47 Movie Reviews

I'll be honest, I didn't go into this movie expecting much. I'm not a big fan of the Hit-man franchise because I've always been a story-orientated player and the idea of playing a seemingly static character like 47 never appealed to me. Since seeing this movie, I've done some research and found out my initial opinion of the franchise was wrong and I should probably give the games a chance.

Rupert Friend does an excellent job as Agent 47, capturing a man who is stoic and seemingly emotionless but also a liar. One of the cool elements of the movie is you can never tell if 47 is genuinely opening up to Katia (Hannah Price) about his feelings or whether he's just trying to manipulate her. Given he's contrasted, directly, against John Smith (Zachary Quinto) who does the exact same thing, it leaves the viewer with an interesting conundrum as to whether anything they're seeing from them is true. This is a cunning and cerebral 47 who knows exactly what he needs to do in order to get his target.

The action scenes are, of course, the only reason anyone should go see this movie and they don't disappoint. They're silly, awesome, fun, and bloody. Agent 47 can do the John Woo guns akimbo thing with the best of them but he's also capable of taking down people with piano wire or shoving them into plane engines. None of them make a damn bit of sense in the real world but, honestly, who cares? This isn't the real world. This is the world where the Syndicate and ICA are dueling over a cloning project's future despite having cyborg super-soldiers at their beck and call.

I'm not a believer that big, dumb action movies are automatically forgiven for being dumb. Captain America: The Winter Soldier is a big, intelligent action movie for instance. However, I do think Hit-man is a big, silly action movie, which is something else entirely. It also benefits from a re-watch, yes I saw it twice, because 47's motivations are consistent throughout the movie but hidden from the viewer. I would very much be willing to watch another installment of this franchise with the same cast and hope it does well at the box office.

User Reviews

As a long-time fan of the original series who has watched rights disputes, and cast and director changes over the years, I viewed the pre-release publicity with high hopes and low expectations. But in the end, the film itself was a wonderful surprise! Witty, light-hearted without being a spoof and dramatic without being heavy-handed. The two main characters were updated from what was allowable in 60s television to satisfying and engaging modern versions of their original incarnations, and the attendant allies and villains were all one could want. The film was very much what the series could have been were it being done now, in the era of Game of Thrones and Mad Men. I've been twice and will be going again, as well as buying the DVD. Open Channel D; this film is more than I dared hope for!

Sinister 2 Movie Reviews

I don't write many reviews on IMDb but I feel this movie deserves one. Sinister is easily my favorite horror movie to come out in the last 5 years so I was pretty sure I wouldn't like the sequel more than the first film. Even 20 minutes into the movie I said to myself "Nope, this isn't gonna be better than the first" but as time passed and as the movie kept going I realized this is one of the best sequels of a horror movie ever. Sinister 2 is as good as Sinister or better, that's up to you. Me? I think Sinister 2 is just a bit better. I just loved every thing about this movie. I am almost certain that if Deputy So & So wasn't in this, I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much as I did. Shoutout to Deputy & So So, he did a great job and I hope 7 years from now he reads what I typed here. Courtney, Dyan, Zach, and all of the ghost kids were great and I really enjoyed seeing more of them. I was so happy there would be a sequel to Sinister and it did not disappoint. Sinister 3? Idk. It will likely happen someday but if it doesn't happen I will be perfectly fine with that. The ending goes both ways. It could have a 3rd film but if it ends at 2 you won't feel ripped off. I hope that you will go see this movie if YOU want to see it and not let lame sites like rotten tomatoes ruin your chances of going to see a movie that you want to see. So what if bald guys in suits don't like the movie. They aren't you. Sinister 2 is definitely worth seeing. Amazing sequel that truly does match the quality of the first.

No Escape Movie Reviews

Greetings again from the darkness. An effective thriller must either put real people smack dab in the middle of believable peril or facilitate the suspension of disbelief. This latest from writer/director John Erick Dowdle (co-written with his brother Drew Dowdle) takes bits of each of those approaches and provides a pretty intense ride … despite the mostly nonsensical happenings.

We pick up Owen Wilson and his family while on an a transatlantic flight to his new job in some unnamed Asian country that we later learn is just a couple miles down river from the Vietnam border. Not long after their arrival, the generic Prime Minister of this unnamed country is assassinated. The rebel forces responsible for the coup were evidently motivated by the political ploy of Owen's company, and they aim to kill him.

Lake Bell plays Owen's wife, and the two of them spend most of the movie on the run together while protecting their two young daughters. Ahh yes, the daughters. While watching this, it made me think that the writers must not be parents, as the kids' reactions to this extraordinarily dangerous situation involves excessive whimpering combined with whining for food. Anyone without kids will certainly not want any after watching this.

One of the family's earliest escape sequences involves leaping from one rooftop to another, and all I could think of was how fortunate that this was not a typical American family who, shall we say, struggles with the effects of a fast food diet. In addition to the long jump, Owen Wilson takes over the record for best on screen child toss … an under-appreciated cinematic category.

The writers do deserve credit for understanding that Owen and his little family were insufficient to hold our attention for the full run, so they threw in a bizarre super agent played by Pierce Brosnan … or Liam Neeson, or Bruce Willis, or maybe Chuck Norris. No, no – it really was Pierce Brosnan. Action sequences appear spontaneously with Brosnan's character, as do the funniest lines … and the Kenny Rogers taxi company.

There do seem to be some conflicting story lines. On one hand the big Western corporation is cast as the villain who cares only to capitalize on the local citizens, yet on the other hand, we as viewers are supposed to root for the cute white family as they run from the rebels. Perhaps this is over-thinking … something the filmmakers won't be accused of.

Most movie lovers enjoy a thriller that creates tension, and there is no shortage of intensity here. Just don't expect to buy into everything you see.
