THE AVENGERS Movie Reviews

What a disappointment, although really not surprised at how bad it was. A totally boring, endless and mostly witless movie aimed at brain-deadened people who think that special effects, explosions and fantasy but definitely not fantastic characters make for a great movie. The cinematography was gray and cloudy, the editing incomprehensible, and the acting unsurprising and depressingly familiar. Simple, human emotions, which used to be integral to a movie are now so rare. Noise and all-too-familiar mayhem have been substituted. The attention span of the audience, when not being bombarded by yet another special effect, shifts quickly to their cell phone when things slow down even a bit. To think that more-of-the-same will be the order of the day is depressing. Count me out.

MISSION:IMPOSSIBLE Movie Reviews

I remember when I first saw this film in theaters and the lights dimmed the first thought that ran through my head was "Here we go again" as I released an involuntary sigh of apathy. Somewhere along the line, before seeing this latest installment, I had decided to re-watch the original four films and realized that the character of Ethan Hunt really has no defining characteristics beyond just basically being Tom Cruise. This bothered me for some reason. Jason Bourne was a fully fleshed out character and even the new Bond films had added newer elements to give a traditionally stereotypical character more depth and complexity, but Ethan Hunt is just...bland. He has no personality. What seemed even stranger to me was the fact that Mission Impossible was supposed to revolve around a team, yet Tom Cruise is seemingly always the only one who ever does anything. So basically these films boil down to watching Tom Cruise perform his own stunts, which I will admit are extremely impressive, especially in this latest escapade. However the plots of all five films are basically nonsense to try and connect each elaborate stunt to the next. Then I realized that all 5 films have remarkably similar story lines as well. Tom Cruise has a mission, something goes wrong, he goes rouge, needs to find some kind of MacGuffin, the villain is some kind of terrorist arms dealer, insert random forgettable love interest here, big stunts, the end.

Mad Max: Fury Road Movie

Reviews

Glad I only saw a pirated version of this trash and didn't pay a dime to see it. Yes it is that bad. I was hoping for a tough-guy-against-the-forces-of-evil action flick. One where the main character is tough, cunning, resilient and merciless to those who would try to exalt tyranny and destroy the right of freedom, but instead got a movie about a guy chained to the proverbial dog leash. Max actually was on a leash in the beginning. Other than some grunts and one or two word responses from Max this movie was focused on Charlize Theron's character which was glorified to the Max(pun firmly intended), and shown to be almost super human to the point of accomplishing stunts, acrobatics and feats of strength that a man would never be able to do let alone a woman. Max was reduced to being one step up from a caveman and clueless for the most part as to what was going on. Tom Hardy should be ashamed for taking the role. This is truly an example of over-rated main-stream celluloid garbage fed to the unsuspecting sheep that are today's movie goers.

User Reviews

Yet again a movie about a single (american) man that saves the day and kills all the (foreign) bad guys. OMG Hollywood this again. Who writes this crap. Seen it a million times before. Back in the day it was still cool but now just shameless.

Cliché after cliché, no humor, virtually no story, illogical, plot holes, action is somewhat enjoyable

To my shame i must admit i enjoyed some of the mindless action scenes but the biggest problem is that it is all to far fetched. Without any realistic basis it just looks stupid. Denzel isn't helping either. Don't get me wrong i like Denzel and credits to him for trying, but his (over) acting feels out of place. He is just trying to hard and way to serious in a movie you can't take serious.
